Job Title: Literacy First Program Manager
Hours: Full-time
Pay: $65,000-68,000/year
Work Location: Hybrid
Reports To: Chief Strategy Officer
Start Date: June 29, 2026
Ready to transform early literacy in our schools? Lead the systems, coaching, and support behind stronger reading outcomes for K–2 students.
Chattanooga 2.0 manages an AmeriCorps-funded early literacy tutoring program that places trained tutors in some of Hamilton County’s highest-need elementary schools. This federally funded initiative requires strong implementation, careful coordination, and compliance with AmeriCorps, Volunteer Tennessee, and grant requirements. We’re looking for a strong program manager who can support AmeriCorps volunteers, coordinate across schools, track implementation closely, and help ensure our students receive consistent, high-quality reading support every day. The program manager will lead daily operations across school sites while coaching AmeriCorps volunteers, tracking program data, and helping ensure students receive consistent, high-quality reading support.
Chattanooga 2.0’s AmeriCorps State Literacy First K–2 Tutoring program is designed to strengthen early literacy through daily, one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on foundational reading skills. The tutoring model is based on the nationally recognized Literacy First program developed by the University of Texas at Austin. Tutors use a structured, phonics-based approach grounded in the Science of Reading to help K–2 students master early reading skills in 30-minute sessions. Assessment, progress monitoring, and individualized lesson planning are all core components of the model.
As program manager, you’ll receive direct support from the Literacy First team through virtual coaching, implementation support, and capacity-building sessions as well as opportunities to collaborate with Hamilton County Schools coaches. This partnership ensures that you and your tutors are equipped with the tools, data, and professional learning needed to deliver high-quality instruction.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in school-based literacy work, especially instructional coaching, intervention, tutoring, or teacher support, and who has strong skills in program operations, data tracking, communication, and coaching.
