Compensation: $55,000 – $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience, with competitive benefits

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Are you interested in helping young adults get the skills, training, and support they need to move from education into a thriving career? Chattanooga 2.0 is looking for someone who is excited about giving youth opportunities to succeed economically and personally by guiding them to and through innovative career pathways. 

Chattanooga 2.0 is leading the Viable Pathways to Prosperity initiative to connect the youth of Hamilton County–Chattanooga to thriving wage jobs that are in high-demand in our community. This initiative is working to bridge systemic gaps between K-12, postsecondary training/education, and thriving–wage jobs with the goal of providing opportunity and access to underserved and underrepresented youth by providing practical steps, training, and access to local jobs that put young people on a path to earn $50k or more. 

Chattanooga 2.0 aims to build ten viable career pathways by the end of 2027 for students and young adults that track from upper elementary grades through high school to postsecondary training to job interview and career opportunity. Each pathway will have engaged business/employment partners and lead to a thriving wage career with defined links to career advancement. The current Viable Pathways that are active and under development lead to careers in the following jobs: Lineworking, Data Analysis, Welding, Dental Hygiene, Cybersecurity, Nursing, Electrician, K-12 Teacher, Plumbing, and Accounting. 

 

DUTIES 

The Pathways Advisor will: 

  • Identify wraparound supports needed by pathway participants (academic, social/belonging, professional development, physical/emotional well-being) and communicate these needs to the team.
  • Implement an active and persistent advising approach to track the progress, needs, and obstacles of each young adult in a pathway.
  • Provide individualized advising and mentoring to stay closely connected to participants and support their success in training and employment.
  • Develop and execute a recruitment plan for Viable Pathways in collaboration with K–12 school champions to ensure effective recruitment and enrollment of graduating high school seniors into high-quality postsecondary training, credential, or degree programs.
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment across K–12, postsecondary, training, and employer partners in coordination with the Director of Viable Pathways.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on enrollment, progress, pathway completion, job entry, first-year retention, and other key metrics in collaboration with the Director of Viable Pathways, Executive Director, Chief Strategy Officer, and Director of Data Strategy and Impact.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Director of Viable Pathways on participant progress, outcomes, and partner engagement.
  • Contribute to the development of communications, outreach, and advocacy materials that highlight the work and impact of the Viable Pathways to Prosperity initiative.
  • Represent Chattanooga 2.0 at meetings and community events to promote the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Participate in community coalition meetings (“table” check-ins) as needed to provide updates and feedback on young adult participants.
  • Follow up on all action commitments from meetings to ensure accountability and progress.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify opportunities for program improvement and systems alignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the Viable Pathways to Prosperity initiative. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Chattanooga 2.0 is seeking a highly organized, personable candidate with a passion for driving positive change for young adults and families in Hamilton County, TN. The candidate will have:

  • Strong background in mentoring, coaching, and project or program management is required. 
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across organizations and partners, and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to think strategically, analytically, and creatively; proactive and self-directed.
  • Experience in student or talent recruitment strongly preferred.
  • Experience in workforce development, education, or any Viable Pathways industry (e.g., advanced manufacturing, construction, healthcare, IT) is a plus.
  • Comfort with data tracking, reporting, and using digital tools for communication and project coordination preferred.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Hamilton County, TN preferred.
