#ThankAPrincipal With Chattanooga 2.0

One of the keys to student success is a great school. The key to a great school is a great principal.

Chattanooga 2.0 has recognized the importance of empowering school leaders in our district since it was outlined as a priority area in our initial report in 2016. This priority area, along with the priority of supporting great teachers in every school and classroom, is what led to the creation of our Great Teachers, Great Leaders action team.

The work of this action team over the last year and a half has led to professional development programs, resources to support our teachers and principals, and opportunities to train our brightest teachers for leadership roles. These accomplishments include:

  • The launch of a partnership with TNTP and Hamilton County Schools for Human Resources Strategic Planning
  • Funding for the Chattanooga Teaching Fellows initiative, in partnership with UTC & Lee University
  • Funding for Teach for America from various sources to support low-income Hamilton County Schools
  • Scaling of the Project Inspire program

Great school leaders set the stage for great teachers by creating an environment and culture that supports high expectations, innovation, and excellence. We must prepare and recruit the best principals to our schools and then give them the autonomy – with accountability – to use resources and adapt programs to fit the unique needs of their school.

During the month of October, in honor of National Principals Month, we invite you to join us in  writing ‘Thank You’ notes to our Hamilton County principals.

We write to thank them for their tireless efforts in pursuit of excellence in education. We write to praise them for the progress our schools are making to become better each day. We write to recognize the impact they have on each child in our community. Write with us!

Write your ‘Thank You’ note NOW!

Details:

Simply fill out the form on our website and a ‘Thank You’ note with your message and name will be delivered to your principal at the end of the month.

We encourage students, parents, teachers, school staff, families, and any member of our community who has been impacted by the work of a Hamilton County principal to submit your note to these motivational leaders.

Teachers may participate by either submitting a thank-you note online by Oct. 26 or requesting physical thank-you cards for their students to write from jennifer@chatt2.org by Friday, Oct 12. One lucky teacher who participates will be selected at random at the end of the month to win a field trip for 30 of their students and the principal. The winning teacher will have the choice of the following field trip locations: Creative Discovery Museum, TN Aquarium, Hunter Museum of Art, or a tour of the Edney Innovation Center (includes TechTown, Co.Lab, and the Enterprise Center).

Entries close Friday , October 26th at 12:00am EST. Winners will be announced at the end of the month.
