Sparking Conversation

In the past several months, dozens of business and civic groups have heard about our community education initiative called Chattanooga 2.0.

Often when I talk with folks about the Hamilton County schools initiative, two of the most frequently asked questions I hear are:

– “How can I help?” and
– “What’s next?”

We are committed to engaging as many people as possible in our business community – and that includes you, so I’m glad you asked “How can I help?”

One of the ways you can help is by sharing your success stories and exchanging ideas. In this space, every week we’ll spotlight people in our community who are working with educators to find ways to connect with our students and make a difference in young people’s lives.

This space is yours – a place to share news about what you and your business are doing to work with educators and students. A place to inspire others to engage. A place to share resources and keep the conversation going. A space where we will inspire others to join us and, finally, a place where we will celebrate early successes.

What’s next? A lot of work and commitment from people who care – people like you.  We have begun the first steps in a long process with potentially far-reaching results. Tell us what’s working. For example – were you able to provide volunteer after-school tutors? Arrange an internship for a high-school student to explore a career field? Meet with a principal in your community to learn more about your school’s needs?

These are the types of stories we’d like to share with our community. Right here. Next week. We look forward to hearing from you.
